Funny Because Productions is a small production company intent on bringing big laughs and little chuckles to anyone that needs them.
WHy are we doing this?
Sometimes we genuinely wonder.
We believe that television doesn't only reflect our shared society - it can shape it. Moving forward, that is a conversation we want to be a part of. Sitcoms like The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Will and Grace helped bring about cultural shifts, all whilst making the audience laugh. We are dedicated to creating new shows that are both grounded in real life and geared towards a future that’s (let’s be honest) could be a bit better than the here and now.
What we’re doing Now
We are focused on the post production of our first television series, GROUNDHOGS. We wrote the script because we wanted to create a show that more closely mirrors what we and our friends have experienced as teens trying to survive high school. All the awkward. All the funny. All the things taken way too seriously. (We’ll get invited to that cool lunch table one day.)
Random Other Things We Want To Share
Thanks to social media it’s true that people are consuming more comedy reels, but that dosen’t mean we need less comedy shows. The thing about sitcoms that’s different to the bite-sized bits being done on social media is the opportunity to get to know a character, and care what happens to them. This is turn fosters empathy, laughs and connection with friends, neighbors and strangers… something we could all use more of today. At least we think so.

Probably. But we wanted to see a realistic high school sitcom with teens who weren’t secretly 30, doing the things we do, making the mistakes we’ve made. We wanted a Friends kind of show for our age group and, well, we just didn’t see anyone else doing that.

We don’t think so. With Abbott Elementary hitting nearly nine million views of its premiere, and the continued re-watches of shows like The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family and New Girl we think they are doing just fine.
